Partner Spotlight – Sol’s on the Square

Welcome to our “Partner Spotlight” series, dedicated to showcasing the incredible work our partner businesses are doing day in and day out. We are missing our partners restaurants very much at the moment and we can’t wait to show our guests our favorite places again. In the meantime, we would like to share a little bit about what makes our community special!  This week’s spotlight is all about Sol’s!

Sol’s on the Square is one of our partners on our Downtown tours. Tommy Kim and his crew are incredible hosts to us and our guests. They consistently offer some of the best Korean food in Madison. They were just named Best of Madison in 2020! Tommy and his nephew Daniel Jin have been running Sol’s since 2016 when they took up the business from the previous owner, Eun Sol Yu (Sol’s namesake). You can often find Tommy and his wife cooking in the kitchen together, creating beautiful dishes for everyone to enjoy. They always make an amazing spread for our guests. The dishes include include their miso soup, housemade kimchi, tons of unique side dishes (definitely gotta try the fish cakes!) and absolutely delicious fried vegetarian dumplings called Kun Mandoo. Most importantly, no tour to Sol’s would be complete without their bimimbap. Crispy rice on the bottom, beautiful veggies, marinated beef, and topped with the perfect fried egg – yuuum! Can’t wait to gather around the table again at Sol’s!
